Chance The Rapper’s ‘Coloring Book’ charts at #8, despite being an Apple Music exclusive

In the past week Apple Music has recorded 57.3 million streams of Chance the Rapper’s new mixtape, Coloring Book.

The mixtape was released exclusively to Apple Music May 13. It was briefly, and apparently accidentally, available for download on mixtape site DatPiff for 10 hours before being taken down.

According to Billboard’s secret charting sauce, that 57.3 million stream figure is the equivalent to 38,000 album units. It’s the first ever streaming-only album to chart, but only just. The Life of Pablo from Kanye West was 99.93% streaming-only according to Billboard.

Coloring Book’s exclusivity ends May 28, where it will presumably see a wider, free release.
