New: HP Chromebook 13 (2016)

Although I swear I’ve written that headline a thousand times before and still don’t own a Chromebook

New: HP Chromebook 13 (2016)

Apart from the Chromebook Pixel there has never been a really fancy machine running Google’s browser-based OS. That could be about to change, or maybe it won’t. I’ve lost track.

The new HP Chromebook 13, built with help from Google, is metal, cool and cheap at US$499. It has a anodised aluminium chassis and a backlit keyboard.

Core specs:

13.3-inch display, available with either full HD or 3200 x 1800 (QHD+) resolution, 4–16GB of memory, 32GB storage, Intel (Pentium, m3, m5, m7), 12.7mm thin, 1.29kg heavy, Audio by B&O Play, 720p webcam.

No word on Australian anything yet — no pricing, no release date. In the US it starts at US$499, ships next month.
