New: Lexar’s speedy, professional new 256GB microSD card

Storage — At AU$449.95 Lexar’s new Professional 1000x microSDXC UHS-II (U3) card might sound a bit too futuristic for casual users, but it might be a worthwhile investment for people looking to shoot a lot of 4K footage or store a lot of files on a solid state chip.

With 4K video capture in mind, the ‘Works With GoPro’ compatible card can hit read speeds of up to 150MB per second or write speeds of up to 90MB per second. And with such a big storage capacity Lexar says you’ll be able to store an average of 9 hours of 4K footage or 36 hours of 1080p video.

You should definitely check your device for compatibility. While UHS-II cards are compatible with UHS-I devices you might not need the extra speed.

The card ships in Australia Q1 2017.
