The new Chainsmokers song ‘Paris’ sounds really similar to M83’s ‘Midnight City’

The Chainsmokers dominated the charts in 2016 but their new song sounds a bit….familiar.

Have a listen to this little comparison. It starts with The Chainsmokers’ new song ‘Paris’, then cuts to a 2011 song from French musician M83 called ‘Midnight City’. I also cut between different parts of the song.

Like ‘Midnight City’ The Chainsmokers’ song even ends with a saxophone sample that sounds surprisingly close to the trademark ending of ‘Midnight City’.

The similar key, chords and even the name, which hints at a French inspiration from French musician M83, means this song is either a coincidentally similar, or it samples / rips off M83.
